  • Hi there and welcome to my blog! I’m Steel, I’m an 18 year old Australian furry, and game art graduate. On this blog, you’ll find my art, rambles, minecraft, and occasionally I’ll reblog something here if I think you folks should see it. Art will be tagged with #steels art, my sketches with “#steels sketches”, “#steels rambles” for talks and stuff, “#steels mc” for minecraft and “#steel reblogs” for reblogs.

(Still WIP) lowpoly model of myself! This low poly + pixelart way of modelling characters is super fun because it's really quite quick in the grand scheme of things but still looks super cute, a very nice way to tinker with stuff in the evenings and not expend too much brain power. https://skfb.ly/oHvOX <- click here to see the 3D version

Hello Mod. Have you ever heard of the Listowel and Ballybunion Railway? It's a steam monorail that lasted from 1888 to 1924, with a... unique design lets call it!

  • what the FUCK. what THE FUCK IS THAT

and there’s a modern version you can GO ON???

sign me up I love it what the express hell

  • It looks like someone did unethical breeding practises to a regular train. It's a sickly beast.

  • Fun fact they had to balance the coaches and wagons with passengers and goods for them to be able to run properly

They had to include a glorified portable footbridge as part of the train so they could direct passengers to use both sides so it didn't tip over

  • my day just keeps getting better

  • @steelblue8 paging you on this one check this out

  • Oh yes I love this thing! It was originally designed for desert usage, the A-frame monorail was like that to allow sand to blow through and make construction cheaper. They built one in Ireland because the Irish wanted a railway and the British didn’t think they deserved it, so they got this shitty thing instead. The carriages did indeed have to be kept balanced, the trains were slow, and reportedly local schoolchildren would often put soap on the singular rail, making the whole thing useless in the process.

For a mildly better but still bizarre steam monorail, check out the Boynton Bicycle, which ran half-hourly trains for a few years and was designed to allow one railway to function as 2! It was mildly more successfully than the listowel and ballybunion, though still just. Not worth it compared to a regular ol railway.
